The CBSA Hongze event is not a WPA sanctioned event, therefore no ranking points.

The WPA updated the rankings two weeks earlier than usual, simply because having the men’s 9-Ball WC finishing so late in the year meant there was no point to updating the rankings for two weeks, then changing them again without another event having been played. According to the Rules, rankings are always updated on 1st January, and points earned in all events from two years previous (i.e. 2017) are deleted.

Alex Kazakis earned his number 1 position because of his results in ranking tournaments. He also played in 7 of a possible 9 of these, maximising his opportunities to earn points.

The players mentioned from China and Taiwan, Chang, Jung Lin (TPE) and Ko Pin Yi (TPE) both played 4 ranking events, Dang, Jinhu (CHN) played 3 while both Wu Jiaqing (CHN) and Liu Haitao (CHN) played in only 2. Liu Haitao lost in the second round of the China Open, earning very few points which reflects his low ranking. Chang Jung Lin and Ko Pin Yi are currently ranked 5 and 6 respectively, and Wu remains in the top 16.

The selection of players for the World Pool Masters has nothing to do with the WPA, it is strictly an invitation event and Matchroom allocates the invites. This event is a non-ranking one so therefore has no impact on player rankings.

Any argument that Alex Kazakis is favoured because of where the ranking events are held, and that also disadvantages Chinese players is flawed. Alex lives in Greece and just 2 of the 9 eligible ranking events were held in his European region, 3 were held in Asia and 4 were held in the USA.

对于参加大师赛选手的选拔与WPA无关。严格来说，这是一项邀请赛，由Matchroom公司分配名额。这并不是排名赛，因此也不会对选手的排名产生冲击。

对于因为比赛地点使卡扎基斯处于优势，而中国选手处于劣势的问题，实际上卡扎基斯住在希腊，而只有2项排名赛在欧洲范围内，而3项在亚洲，4项在美国（译者注：WPA认为卡扎基斯并未因比赛地点问题而从中受益）。

以上就是WPA关于之前的质疑给出的回应，应该说WPA的回应速度非常高效，由于之前WPA和中国台球协会（CBSA）曾传出合作出现裂痕，此次修改排名格外引人注意。我们相信WPA会从球员角度出发继续加强和中国的合作，毕竟当今中国在世界体育舞台是不可或缺的重要部分。

当然，也有一个好消息。作为新科世锦赛冠军，中国姑娘韩雨将作为女子年终世界第一被邀请参加三月份在直布罗陀举行的大师赛，开创先河。从2019年起，花式撞球大师赛扩军，将邀请两位女子选手参与角逐。其中，对女子9球贡献卓著的英国名宿凯莉·费雪在此之前已经接受邀请。而刚刚新婚还没来得及蜜月就参赛并奇迹夺得世锦赛三冠王的韩雨，荣升世界第一并同时受邀参赛，真是三喜临门！
